HE Dr. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi Receives the UAE Pioneers Award

On Monday, November 28, 2016, in concurrence with the 45th UAE National Day Celebrations, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai (may God protect him) honored HE Dr. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi, Director General of the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR), with the UAE Pioneers Award in recognition of his record of giving, achievement, excellence and innovation. Dr. Al-Suwaidi was one of 45 honorees from federal government, local entities and private sector institutions who contributed to the Year of Reading.

On this occasion, HE Dr. Al-Suwaidi expressed that receiving such an honor from HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (may God protect him) made him feel deeply proud and honored. Moreover, he said that this award enthusiastically propels him to double his efforts to serve his beloved country, the United Arab Emirates, and to contribute to the comprehensive developments taking place at all levels in the country.

Dr. Al-Suwaidi said that the award confirms the leadership’s determination in consolidating the values of giving, achievement and dedication to work, adding that these values remain the driving force behind the comprehensive development witnessed in the country. He also said that the award sends a positive message to all UAE citizens—that the leadership appreciates all pioneers, innovators and excellent achievers in all fields. Furthermore, he described the award as a strong incentive for everyone to exert more effort, diligence, creativity and innovation, in a way that contributes to maintaining UAE’s position as the leader in various fields, regionally and globally.

Dr. Al-Suwaidi reiterated that the UAE Pioneers Award – launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (may God protect him) in 2014 to honor the pioneering UAE citizens in all fields – has contributed to an environment conducive to creativity and innovation in various fields. Moreover, it has established an environment that is in line with UAE Vision 2021, which aims to make the UAE among the best countries in the world, according to the Golden Jubilee of the Union.

Dr. Al-Suwaidi also noted that this honoring comes just a few days before the UAE’s 45th National Day—a day on which the country recalls with pride the sacrifices of the founding fathers, led by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may God bless his soul) and the great legacy they left behind. Their legacy has instilled in the citizenry patriotism, the sense of national belonging and genuine dedication to work, all of which are key to maintaining the UAE’s excellent status in the world.

Dr. Al-Suwaidi underscored the ECSSR’s eagerness to serve the UAE society—the Center closely interacts with and participates in various national initiatives, with the aim of helping them achieve their objectives. The most recent initiative the ECSSR participated in was the 2016 Year of Reading, declared by President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces (may God protect him). This initiative was of great significance to the ECSSR since the Center believes in the importance of entrenching the values of reading, which is no longer a luxury but rather a necessity to reconstructing thoughts as well as cognitive abilities and building the knowledge-based society. Thus, the Center distributed 150,000 books to 845 government entities, universities, institutes and public and private schools, to motivate other establishments to undertake similar endeavors at local, regional and international levels.

Concluding his statement on this occasion, Dr. Al-Suwaidi promised the wise leadership that he would continue to support various national initiatives, with additional effort, excellence and creativity. He added that the UAE’s high status, progress, development, stability and leading position are among the objectives that the Center constantly seeks to achieve.

It is noteworthy to mention that the President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (may God protect him) had previously presented Dr. Al-Suwaidi in 2013 the Head of State Merit Award, in recognition of his patriotism, sincere achievements and for his exemplary role for upholding the values of giving. Moreover, HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces (may God protect him) awarded him the Abu Dhabi Medal on the occasion of winning the Abu Dhabi 2011 Award.
